Summer Sunflowers

Sunflowers are one of my favorite summer flowers to grow. They really stand out in the garden, and their bright vivid colors reflect throughout the landscape. Varieties come in every size of vibrant hues of yellows, oranges and reds.

Sunflowers attract nature with its beauty and pollen and seeds. They are one of the easiest flowers to grow, and seeds can be saved for the local birds and wildlife and planting in the next year’s summer garden.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! πŸ˜ƒ

Ooh I love these! It is the exact reason I spent many hours last year collecting seeds and saving them so I would have the diversity of color that you have displayed here. Right now my sunflower crop, which occupies about 400 feet of fence is just in its first 3rd of Bloom time, so I have not seen all the potential colors yet. By the way that I planted them I’m going to have some tiny blooms so that’s another type of diversity. Thanks for sharing these.

Thank you so much Joe! This was my first year to plant a variety mix of seeds. I am saving and separating the seeds so I’ll have a better idea next year exactly what varieties and sizes they will grow into. I was very surprised by the diversity of colors and sizes, and they have been a continuous bloom for over a month now. I know your sunflowers are just beautiful and sounds like you have some wonderful varieties also! Thank you for stopping by and I’m so happy you enjoyed them! πŸ˜ƒ

Beautiful. Ours got attacked by slugs, and had to be replaced, so they’re not in flower yet. Your photo’s have prompted me to go out and give them a boosting soak of wash-up water!

Wonderful series of photos. I love the tone of the lighting. I’ve tried but can’t have sunflowers because of the squirrels and rabbits.
